Chicago Radio Spotlight: Rick Kaempfer interviews Bill Gamble

Talk about timing... With Bill Gamble being the subject of a heated discussion just yesterday, Rick Kaempfer interviews the man today in his Chicago Radio Spotlight. (Actually, the interview was a few days ago, but it appears today.) In it, Bill tells Rick what it's like to come to town to oversee a #1 station (US99.5) and what his thoughts are on Fresh 105.9, his other station. Bill also talks about why the launch for The Zone 94.7 had to be delayed for a month, how he programs radio stations, why he loves being back in Chicago, and the proverbial much, much more. He did mention Fresh, his plan is to play music, period. In other words, the jocks shouldn't get comfy because they are not going to be able to distinguish themselves from a monkey pushing buttons. Can you say, easily and frequently replaced?

A good enough interview, but I was hoping to read more about what Gamble has planned for Fresh. He avoided that answer. Either he has no plans for the station or CBS won't let him talk about them. Either way, I have a feeling 105.9 will be a WSCR simulcast by next summer. Another dead format. Another notch in Gamble's belt.
