%years ago my VA clinic doctor told me that I had emphysema after having a chest xray done. Yes I smoked for over 40 years, boy they were my best buddy for years but now I have stopped and I mean it took me many times trying to stop. I stopped this time for good a month ago after having a SOB episode at the store. My clinic MD at the VA does not say much to me. I did go have a Pulmonary function test and they told me then that I was right on the borderline, nothing else. So I went back to the Va clinic doctor and she just told me that yes I have COPD and that she was sorry. That's all she said. They have not done anything else about this but I do plan to ask for more help from them. I read that I need to get pulmonary rehab if possible. Not sure if the VA has that or not. I do know I have asked questions like LVRS is it possible?? she sai why would you want that it does really no good, I asked about lung transplants and she said the same as well. She wasn't much help that's for sure. I have days where I experience pain in my arms and shoulders up my neck on some days when I am SOB. I am not on oxygen just Spiriva, Ventolin inhalers and, advair 250/50 and singulair 10 mg everyday. I am so lost with this and have no answers. I feel this Va doctor basically is not helping me. I have anxiety attacks and depressed about this. Can anyone here help me??? Thank you Mark Fread
