98.248.53.53I am glad you got your shots as I think this is turning into a "get it when you it is available" but the distribution is really a mess. Doctors here desperate for it and there is a bunch sitting there waiting for people to get it. 75.3.200.177I saw my Pulmonologist on Wednesday, got my seasonal 'flu shot and asked about the H1N1. She said they have none. She said they'd be giving people the shot as their appointments come up when they get a supply. I'm out of luck, I guess, as I won't see her again till March - even though she tells me to be very careful as my lungs ae so fragile. Right now I feel very vulnerable as I'm sure many of us do. - Re: flu shot

98.248.53.53Yes, I heard that. The bank gave the vaccine back and I am hoping GS will, too. I don't know if you can really blame them because everyone had the opportunity to apply for it. I think it is the method of distributing it and the fools doing it. I think they throw all the requests in a box and pick at random. It is ludicrous the way this is being done and it is not too late to change it. I am waiting for someone to step in and get it going to the right people. OK, Kathleen, do your job and where is the CDC in all this. They should have some some say about how badly this is being done. Perhaps this thing with GS will get Washington to get on the ball. - Re: flu shot

68.12.160.104Well, at least they backed off the vaccine for the "enemy combatants", i.e. terrorists, at Gitmo after they got so much flack about it. That ticked me off to the max to think Washington thinks more of terrorists than they do of citizens over 64. It didn't surprise me...just made me mad. - correction

98.248.53.53Since the Gitmo inmates are not exposed to H1N1 since they are not out and about I don't know why they ever even thought about it for them. I wonder what is going on with our prisoners in the US. At least they have visitors and an epedimic at a large prison is not only costly but dangerous but Gitmo? - Re: flu shot

68.12.160.104I don't know if gitmo has the vaccine - I don't much think they do. It was the Pentagon that said they were going to vaccinate them. I don't have a clue how the manufacturers are distributing it, other than erratically, of course. The distributors must surely be following CDC instructions. - Re: flu shot

98.248.53.53And they thought the Bank of American and Goldman were a priority. Well, I guess since they were for the "bailout" money that makes sense. GS has paid their back though to be fair with interest. I have emailed both my senators and asked them to look into this distribution problem. I am sick of hearing they don't have enough vaccine because of the eggs. It appears that it is going to the wrong places. Someone on one of the forums said they were in VA traveling and heard it was available and went to the county health department and they said they have a lot of it just sitting there waiting for people to come in. - Re: flu shot

68.12.160.104Our City-County Health Dept is really being hard-core on this. I talked to them the other day and when I mentioned being on oxygen, I thought they wouldn't turn me away, she said, well yes they will. We're hoping to get the over 65 w/underlying disease included soon. - Re: flu shot

72.8.78.192I got the H1N1 shot yesterday..I was surprised at how easy it was (though I made several calls to different places that had been giving out the shot,in recent weeks, and they were always out)..Then as I was reading the morning paper, an article listed several places that had just gotten in doses of the vaccine. So I called a pharmacy on the list and was told they were giving out 200 shots that day: and at the time of my call they had given out 20 shots..So I drove right down there and took a number, and came back when they told me to. I just walked in and got the shot.And though I had had to fill out a form beforehand, they never even looked at it, that I could see...But I'm glad I got it: for I care full time for my grandson who has leukemia..I can't afford to get sick, and maybe make him sick too! - Re: flu shot

98.248.53.53So they didn't question your age at all? It would appear that SLC is one of those that already got it then for drug stores which we have not. I would also venture to say that you probably don't have the number of uninsured people that we do here is California which is where ours seems to be going. - Re: flu shot

98.248.53.53I thought the same thing but apparently they feel we can get it from our doctors and they have a limited supply for people that don't have doctors. As for the illegals I have reached the point that if anyone will be less prone to get it and spread it it is OK. Its not going to change whether I like it or not but if we can nip this flu ASAP then I don't care. If the children of uninsured do get sick they are less apt to go to a doctor and will just spread it more as they send the kid to school,etc. Yes, I would rather it go to US citizens first but it ain't going to happen. - Re: flu shot

98.248.53.53Who knows. I don't think they asked for proof of citizenship. They estimated 3000 people showed up today and so they went thru and pulled out those at high risk and moved them to the front. They were all filling out paperwork. I am sure that not all those people didn't have insurance. - Re: flu shot

I have registered with state public health website and receive by e-mail notices of clinics near me that are giving the vaccine, only problem is that so far it is only for the priority groups, I have complained about the upper age limit being applied.
