GREAT Spirometry Course

We just finished the first of a two-day coruse on Spirometry for medical professionals today. It was wonderful to see the high level of interest by all those in attendance! I'm very, very happy! They all seemed to get along very well also. One of them has joined our project to do lung testing at the pharmacies as well.

I think you are accomplishing something which has been dreamed of by professionals for years: testing in an undiagnosed environment, no?

I can imagine folks getting diagnosed earlier and having better outcomes long term. Impressive what you are accomplishing, Starion. Don't forget to get the media onto something, so they too can help. (just be sure you have some releases, around...)Congrats, you have worked hard.

I'm thrilled to be increasing the standard for lung testing in our state and hope that it will improve treatment and increase those who are interested in the profession.

We will be doing public screening, particularly for those at risk of COPD--45+, any tobacco history and/or respiratory symptoms. I am grateful for wonderful mentors and partners that are making this MUCH better and easier than it would be if I was working totally by myself.

You might keep some statistical records too, even basic ones, to justify the outcome and even publish how successful such a program is with even a small sample...It's not impossible tht a microbiology researcher might not love to have swabs of mouth flora in such a population. Clinical Trials often has some incredibly simple trials...

yes, we are collecting data

Since this is being funded by a grant, we are collecting significant amounts of data and will have it analyzed. I will also be writing reports with collaborators and we may also publish and present.

We are very excited about this pilot project and it is creating significant interest, locally and nationally.
