Kay, a number of us on this board have pulmonary hypertension, (PH)which is secondary to or caused by COPD. (SPH) If you will go about at third of the way down the page and look under cor pulmoale by GaryTX there is some discussion of SPH. I was diagnosed with PH over ten years ago and have taken no meds for it except oxygen. I am now 77. To my knowledge there has been little success treating secondary or SPH. Primary, which is the most deadly has been treated by several medications with some degree of success. Bosetan is the main one that comes to mind. It costs some $3000 a month, which puts it out of reach for most of us. Tiazac is a calcium channel blocker. The cardios have tried CCBs on me, but I cannot tolerate them. A good bet is that most of us who have had COPD for a long time also have SPH to some degree. Like COPD it is not a death warrant by any means....just one more thing to deal with. Others will have more to say on the subject.
