Thanks John. I lost a brother (8 yrs. younger then me) to COPD in 2003. He was on nebulized morphine for extreme shortness of breath on and off for 18 mos. before leaving us. He also took morphine by mouth to relieve the extreme SOB. I'm not sure but I don't think this would have been possible if he had not been with Hospice during this time. When the end did come, the morphine dosage was increased substantially. His passing was very easy. So, I know that you can be around for a long time with this disease even while on morphine.....it can be a great aid for many. So, Larry, you can bet that I'll be praying for you and your wife and expecting you to live and educate us as you always have for as long as possible. The more my disease progresses I find that the strange part about this disease is how we can feel so bad one day and feel so much better the next. It is such a puzzle. I know for myself, there are days I feel I won't be around much longer.....then the next day I am foolish enough to think I can whip this disease and then a couple days later I may feel bad enough that I wish I could just check out.....indeed, a strange and debilitating disease. My very best wishes to you and your wife.......PatIN
