Not long ago John posted some info on this cold weather mask. I have been experimenting with these heat exchange masks. I wrote the company mentioned in his post. Not all my questions were answered to my satisfaction but i am posting the letter here.My concerns were 1. what if one is on O2? -2.Every mask i wrote about one had to breath from the mouth and i use a lot of PLB when walking.-3. If there is any resistance to my breathing in i get claustrophobic. You can return the mask below if not satisfied. I imagine you loose shipping charges. I am ordering the mask after a bit more comparing and return mails.
Also i am designing a work around for the mouth breathing problem. It has 2 one way valves (light plastic and acting in opposition. rather large hose to reduce inhale friction)that close and open as one breathes in and out. I am looking at different ways to heat the air other than the heat exchange method. If any one is interested i will post the results

Mr. Thorndale, in answer to your question, the HME covers your mouth and
nose, and you can take breaths through both, but you have to be able to
inhale and exhale some breaths through your mouth. I mention this, because
some people on oxygen, find that they can effectively use the CT Mask and
some cannot. To use the mask effectively, some breaths have to be inhaled
and exhaled through the mouth, and some oxygen users cannot draw any breaths
without use of their oxygen.
At air flow of 30 Lpm (litres per minute), the resistance is 0.5 cm H2O (at
sea level). That measure is in a clinical study. However, each person's
respiratory condition contributes to their inhaling (due to the amount of
air they can comfortably move in and out of their lungs), so the resistance
becomes a very individual issue. The individuality of each person's
respiratory challenges is one of the reasons we offer a 30-day money back
guarantee on the mask - some people encounter too much resistance to use the
CT Mask, or any mask, comfortably.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. And thanks for your
interest in our products.
