While swabbing with the saline would be good, I think doing a saline nasal wash would be even better. I'm talking about the Neti pot or NeilMed's plastic squeeze bottle where you use 8 oz of solution. Using either the Neti pot or the bottle, you flush the sinuses and nostrils with the saline solution which should help wash out any bacteria or viruses.
