Had the cardiac catheterization done yesterday. He did both right and left and also did the angiography. Everything looked fine. No blockages and heart pumping to the lungs fine. The good news is my heart is in great shape. The bad news is now I have to figure out how to get some recovery to my lungs.
They did comment my white blood cells were slightly elevated. I had talked to my pulmo about low-dose zithromax and he was all in favor of it but reminded me I can't take it. Cardiologist put me on digoxin for the a-fib and apparently zithromax cancels the effect of the digoxin (or that's how I understand it - I may be confused but they definitely don't mix). I wanted to get through yesterday but now need to get back to the cardio and see if there are any reasonable alternatives to the digoxin. Or maybe pick another antibiotic - any suggestions anyone?
Thanks to all of you for your responses before I went in for this. You were right, Luke and Linda and Lenal - it was a piece of cake and it's a very good thing to knock out cardiac problems from the list (OK, not counting the a-fib.LOL)
