Hi Joyce and welcome. Yes, now and then there are posts made that are curt or even rude. Maybe just a bad day or some people write like that either unintentionally or......? That is their problem.
As for what to expect in the future.....well, I will be 79 shortly and was diagnosed in '97 as severe. Now 12 years later I am still severe and still on O2 only at night, except for my "feel bad" days, which don't happen often. Like most others on the forum I have several other health problems in addition to COPD. Just for my situation I would say I have gone downhill at about the same rate that my life long friends who do not have COPD have. I can still do most things....such as my own shopping, cooking, light cleaning etc., abeit with more effort and more slowly. But then I am now past the average life expectancy, so who knows. Take it one day at a time and go by how you feel more than your diagnosis. Keep coming back, we can always use more Joyces:o)
