Nah, John, it's your program that's keeping it at bay and a relatively good heart. Folks on a Primary PH site might not be the best comparison...the only reason we have sec. PH is the difficulty to circulate blood thru the Pulmonary artery, and that's very variable. ....If it's not under constant sudden pressure, we may be able to coast long term, I'm guessing. I'm no Doc, but it's kinda what my Pulmo heavily hints...Heavy on the ongoing muscle exercise. He reminds me that Cardiac patients do strenuous Rehab for the benefit of the heart.
Once when all folks were admitted to an ER they were doing catheters but it's been stopped as too dangerous for routine use, never mind our situation.
For what it's worth, they are doing some basic studies on sildenfil (Levitra)and I'm hoping they may do some studies on L-Arginine. As for PH forums, I think if you had ongoing, all the time continuos 50mm PH you might be in trouble sooner. Passing chest pain is one thing, but living with a constant PH might be a whole different animal, I suspect. Apples and oranges. It's true we are pooling info here, but I gather so are the Docs, too. Too few Pulmo's delve into sec. PH, Cardiologists have to be forced to pay attention as it's a lung issue, and never the twain shall meet. Lets face it, severe COPD meant a death sentence just 9 yrs ago, it was a sin to do LVRS surgery, and surgery wasn't possible with sec. PH. I have had all that, and I'm still smiling. Every Doc I'm met who's a PCP want's to save me with BP meds, maybe a blood thinner and I know they are kind and want to help, but I gently refuse. I'm sure they are amazed every year when I renew my prescriptions and we go on...
