Jean, time tells me that many, many folks with COPD are nowhere near doing daily aerobic exercises. Frankly, I suspect that mostly only folks who have actually had Pulmonary Rehab and know the real benefits of such exercise are in that group.
Asking about Wii struck me as perhaps a fun way to get many more folks moving, just maybe starting out and having some fun. I have no idea what the units cost much less the games to choose, but it strikes me that Rehab hospitals, Nursing homes, neighbors and enthusiasts are exploding the world over and it's getting folks out of their chairs....It means more people are moving more...THAT could lead to miracles.
I hear how many folks play cards. I hear many get together for Better Breathers, lunch and I hear that many folks attend exercise places. Maybe a kitty fund can be established by friends to share with neighbors, friends, exercise mates...Heck we missed Mothers Day...Maybe Dads might get one.
I saw a Little people program on Discovery where in a Dwarf and his normal small son boxed energetically, and I'd swear they both looked like they were really getting the aerobic benefits. It obviously benefits upper body ....I doubt if anyone will measure the aerobic benefits of 'bowling', but all in all it sure looks like it's better than food grazing or napping...Looks like it might be a good break between sessions of treadmilling...I'd hope. It looks like great fun.
