Actually, the Wii is being used in a number of rehab programs and nursing homes across the country as a way to help people who ordinarily won't or don't exercise get moving again. In order for it to actually be helpful, you do have to work hard enough to get your heart rate up, and not all of the regular games will do that. I have recently read some fairly positive reviews of the Wii exercise module by trainers and physical therapists. You can play the games in a fairly small area, and it looks like the exercise module doesn't take much space either.
In order for it to really do much good, though, you would have to work hard enough to really get your heart rate up and keep it up for a reasonable period of time....20 to 30 minutes. I'd be interested to know if anyone with COPD has tried it and how well they were able to keep up with the pace set by the module.
