Elaine, it fills the same as a Helios, if you haven't figured that out already. I've never had experience with the 600, though, just the 300; which takes just a little under a minute to fill. I can get four hours out of a tank with the highest setting, "5", and obviously more than that with a lower setting. You should be able to stay out all day with a 600. And yes, the advantage over a Helios is that it doesn't freeze. On the other hand, if you tip it over it will sputter and cough until you set it upright again. See Pete Wilson's chart at
