Toprol is the brand name for metoprolol. I have taken metoprolol for about seven years, for SVTs (fast heart rate). It works for me and has never bothered me. The doctors have tried to switch me because it is a beta blocker. However, you are on about the minimum dosage which is prescribed.
Maybe you were just very anxious and the
anethesilogist (sp) is simply being very cautious to protect himself.
