Was supposed to have gallbladder surgery the 19th. Went to Day Surgery Mon. for EKG and Lab in preparation. EKG looked really good, BUT told the anesthesia consultant that I had been having elevated heart rate (100-130) in the mornings and early afternoons for past 4 days. They refused to put me to sleep without another cardiac clearance. Saw the cardio yesterday. He says lungs are interfering with heart function and he put me on Topral 25 mgm 2 x day -- He didn't actually say Pulmonary Hypertension, but I know the drug is used for heart failure. I'll ask him to go over it again when I see him next Tuesday. I was on overload yesterday and distracted and not breathing well.
Surgery can be done in a couple of weeks if I tolerate the drug. He did say Toprol would interfer with my recovery after the surgery. Again, not exactly sure why. My cardio is great, its my listening that's impaired.
It's so discourging - it seems its something new every day to deal with.
