CJ: Maybe I don't understand you correctly. Was the Inogen to be your portable source for oxygen? It is my understanding under the new Medicare regulations providers can provide us with the OGPE/POC (Oxygen generating portable equipment) but they must be our sole source of oxygen. They will not provide both a concentrator and a OGPE/POC. If you are provided a concentrator, then they must also provide you with some form of portable oxygen for when you go to Doctor appointments and things like that. Is it possible this is where some of the confusion lies? I used an Inogen for a trip last year and loved it for traveling, however, like you, I need continuous flow most of the time, and the Inogen or any of the POC's out right now don't really fit my needs. I wouldn't be surprised though, to see that change soon, the way technology is changing so fast in the oxygen field today.
I hope you get a good supervisor to sit down and go over the new medicare regs with you. With all the changes coming down the pike, this gets very confusing.
Best wishes,
Mary Ellen/CA
