Got quite a shock this morning. My LOX (Spirit and resevoir) was to be pulled last month and I was supposed to receive an Inogen in place of it, but I asked, and received, a reprieve for 30 days due to my upcoming surgery.
This morning I called my delivery man to tell him that I had an appt. next Monday to get the blood work and EKG associated with my gallbladder surgery the 19th and he would have to change his delivery date to later in the week. Much to my suprise, he stated the Inogen was to be my ONLY source of O2 and that I would no longer receive the 50 feet of tubing I usually get every other month. They are going to pick up my concentrator when they deliver the Inogen! I told him my prescription is for 2.5 LPM continuous and the Inogen isn't going to work for me in my home since it won't deliver a continuous flow. Plus, my concentrator was paid for before I went on Medicare, so how can they take it?? Needless to say, a supervisor is supposed to call me this afternoon to talk about this.
I have already called several companies about LOX, and the three I have talked to no longer offer LOX "due to insufficient reimbursement". I still have two to call. After the rep calls me from my current company, I will contact the doc who orders the O2 to see if she can intervene.
Any other suggestions? I don't know what I will do without the LOX. I tried an M6 with a pulse dose regulator and couldn't keep my sats up. That was 5 yrs ago and my FEV1 is lower now. I live alone and have minimal support. Have to be 99% self sufficient.
