Have had both dogs and cats but know that I am allergic to them so haven't gotten a new one which I miss very much. Doctor told me no birds so I settled on a fish. It doesn't sound like much because you can't cuddle it or take it for a walk(sometimes that is a good thing) but strangely enough you still have the feeling that there is another living thing in the house. I have a Beta and even though he doesn't do trick on command when friends come over he can be quite comical when in a feeding frenzy or with a mirror up to the bowl so he can do his flaring and macho swagger. Cheap, too.
