I too have a dear dog, Phoebe and she is the love of my life. After my husband died, she kept me going. I lived in a over 55 apartment building and had to walk her three times a day. The responsibility kept me moving and she had to be walked come rain or shine. I now live with my daughter and she is getting fat and I have to resort to the treadmill for my exercise, even though I take her out on my scooter and she loves the scooter because she knows that she gets to to out with it. Out pets are our life line, don't you think?
