Thanks for the helpful article, Chris. As someone coming off the 2nd infection in two months, I will be trying hard not to get any more for 2008. One thing that I have to try harder on is to be a bit "less touchy." At the conference I attended, one of the people I shook hands with was a physician who was coming down with the flu (tho at the time I didn't know & I don't think he knew it either). I didn't wash my hands and I did come down with the flu in a few days, which was complicated with a bacterial infection.
I tend to be a "hugger" but folks who have infections and don't want to give them to me back away and warn me that they're under the weather & I should stay away. I am getting better about heeding their warnings and am getting more selective in whom I shake hands with and hug. My resistance to infections is lower than I'd like and lower than I remember it.
There are a heck of a lot of folks hacking and sneezing around here. Not sure which have viruses and which have bacterial infections, but it does make us want to minimize our time around crowds of people.
