Posted by Vicki Gaudreau Vicki We will assist the SPCA by screening and qualifying the applicants the SPCA has on record now, soliciting more applicants for adoption, arranging for foster care of a certain number of them and coordinating transportation on short notice. Foster care may be needed for awhile by horses whose ownership is in dispute. It is possible that appeal of the court verdict will negate the need for placement, nevertheless we are going ahead to set up the resource network so that adopters, foster care and transportation will be ready to go. We realize we don't know all we should and we realize that our efforts for this situation may not be needed, but it seems to us that these resources, and the contacts that produce them, may be helpful for other distressed horses in the future . Right now my contact list is limited to written notes and a few saved files because my computer took my email contact list with it to the place where all dead hard drives go. I appreciate any referrals you can send our way for adopters, help and advice. We have fretted over the fate of these horses and welcome the opportunity to be of horse community service. Thanks for your help!... ann dorsett 1-856-467-0870 http://www.maaha.org/announcement.htm

Some of you will likely remember the threads & posts about these horses last year. I spoke with Ann today to get an update because I've been somewhat out of the loop lately (preoccupied with my son being in Iraq). While there's still some uncertaintly regarding whether some will need fostering or be available for adoption, it's better for the horses to have resources in place ahead of time rather than have to scramble & hope enough people, etc, can be found if time becomes an issue. Two of the horses are stallions ~ an Arabian stallion (Bey Liege) & a saddlebred stallion. As Ann mentions in her email, there are ownership disputes regarding some of the horses (including at least 1 of the stallions), so they may need fostering until that is resolved. Ann can provide more information & details. She has been on top of this from the beginning ~ advocating for the horses, talking with the SPCA, attending court, etc. She has included her phone number & email address in her email. I've posted links to the MAAHA website page for the horses as well as a site set up for them specifically. Both need updating but they do provide a background (including pictures). Thanks.
"An ad hoc committee of the Mid-[Atlantic] Arabian Club has offered to help with a herd of Arabians here in NJ which may (or may not ) need placement in the near future.
