Nelsen,
Thank you for the 15 years of dedication you have given to CIFFI. As a member and director of CIFFI for 15 years, I too have experienced the "growing pains" that a successful enterprise must endure. As one who is for the most part working behind the scenes, I feel you (and some who responded to your post) would agree that I have always voiced my own opinion as well as membership feedback on issues over the years. I can honestly say that I am very proud to be part of the CIFFI and what has been accomplished by our volunteer membership throughout the years. I have been reading the posts that you and others have submitted and now feel the need to respond. Know that there is no mistake, I have taken them personally. You have asked not to be emailed or telephoned, so I'll address here with this post. First, I don't believe you have lost any friends. Per our phone dicussions in Oct. 07 & Dec. 07, the lasting relationships with those who we have become our friends are way more important than a fish. Life is too short. Secondly, I had been 100% behind your leadership since day 1 as I know of the dedication and passion that we share for the fisheries. However, after reading your recent posts and reflecting back, I need to apologize to the membership for not recognizing and voicing my opinion on the recent quality of your leadership. The responses to your post seem to be one sided and misinformed. For the past year, it seems that you have brought more "drama" than positive effort to CIFFI. Numerous threats of resignation, "visions" or "plans" that were never explained as to what they actually were, taking CIFFI to the "next level"(membership decision? board decision? your own decision?), forming comittees(out of the same 17 volunteers) to lead comittees of those who are on two other comittees...etc.......For me, Drama=Waste of Time. The CIFFI BOD has always been a team that moves forward together. We try our best to react to the membership and stay progressive in our relationship with CA Dept. of Fish & Game. This past year I feel that you have been promoting your own agenda, not CIFFI, and your post to our membership confirms, in my mind, my beliefs. All those who responded to your post are correct in thanking you for your dedication to CIFFI. However, using words like "ego", "powers that be", "puppets", "three blind mice" .....in reference to the CIFFI BOD is wrong. The response you recieved yesterday regarding your leadership was from a tiny percentage of our membership (10-15 members) and part of those are always ready to state the worst about CIFFI. No one wanted you to resign and I found it disheartening until reading your posts. You chose to resign. We, Officers, BOD, Membership, F&G, Sponsors....have been and will continue to work together for the fisheries. The 15 years of time, money & effort that I have contributed to CIFFI has been for the fish. Not for the "ego" of the president. Not for the "three blind mice(?)". Not for the "BOD". Not for the "powers that be". FOR THE FISH.
I wish you well in your endevours.
