[ Post a Message | California Inland Fisheries Foundation ]
Posted by Ron Berg on 4/24/2008, 10:32 pm, in reply to "CIFFI-Project Kokanee Leadership Changes"
Members of the Board,
I was stunned by Nelson Money’s resignation as the president of the California Inland Fisheries Foundation.. I read every single word and every post that members wrote 2 or 3 times. It seems that the members who responded favored Nelson’s progressive philosophy of working with other groups of fisher men. But what happened to their posts and comments. There was an outpouring of support for what Nelson achieved, and that is well over due.
I feel very upset and appalled by the way the news of Nelson Money’s resignation as the president of C.I.F.F. has been deleted from the message board. I think the members should be able to express their feelings to any organization they belong to. Is there something that the board wanted to hide from its members? Or was there something they are ashamed of? If you delete this message it will really make me wonder if you were afraid of the truth. Nelson believed that CIFF needed to work together with Kokanee Power to support the State department of Fish and Game. From reading at least 8 posts that were made in support of Nelson’s progressive idea’s of working together all of the posts supported him. Wendy, this is a very important issue that needs to be addressed so that the members can respond. For members of the board to respond to all of the posts that were made and then deleting them really makes me wonder about what is going on behind closed doors? Wendy I hope you can can find the old posts and put them back up so that the members can read and respond with their feelings. And if those posts cannot be found , hopefully those people who made posts originally will post them again.
There are probably a few people who didn’t agree with Nelson’s progressive feelings. However , All of the people I’ve talked to felt that Nelson should be applauded. I’m sure it took allot of guts for him to stand up and present his ideas of working together with Kokanee Power. As I told Nelson, I don’t know what happened in the past for CIFF to split up and another organization to start up. I really don’t know or do I care. Its time to Barry the hatchet and move forward, working together for the good of the fishery and fishermen; isn’t that why we have the organization anyhow?
In my experience a great team comes from having a group of people that work together. Its called teamwork. You can’t make a winner of people that can’t understand or within the team concept. When a team loses, everyone associated with the team loses: players, coaches, administrators, parents and fans. The whole community feels like a looser. An when a team wins everyone wins. Its hard enough to have a winning team, but when people work hard, work together, and have a leader with new ideas anything is possible. California’s fishery is really facing some hard times and needs a team that works together, and not a team of self centered individuals. The old saying , “United we stand divided we fall” hopefully still makes sense today.
I would hope that Nelson would reconsider coming back to CIFF as the president because he will truly be missed. In fact I would urge the board to have the courage to call Nelson and ask him to return to his position. I truly appreciate this organization and all that it has done for California’s fishery and its fishermen.
Sincerely, Ron Berg
