To the Board of Directors and Officers of CIFF,
There is one constant in this world we can always count on, and that is…change.
As most of you are aware by now, President Nelsen Money had talked on several occasions about stepping down and letting someone else take the helm of CIFF... if the officers or board of directors did not agree with his direction or leadership. That day came on Tuesday, April 22, 2008. After the executive committee meeting, prior to our board of directors and membership meeting on April 16th, officers and executive committee members continued to discuss a lack of confidence in Nelsen’s leadership covering a wide and varying degree of reasons. There was no one single thing that set these wheels in motion; it was more of an accumulative effect.
When it became clear that there was a strong majority of executive committee members that lacked confidence in Nelsen’s leadership, I had no choice but to once again bring these opinions to Nelsen’s attention. The decision to leave was his alone and he was not asked for his resignation. He felt he had the support of the majority of the officers and executive committee but it was clear he did not.
The executive committee, (all officers of the board and the two rotating board members) will meet very soon and plot our course and direction. I have talked with several officers already regarding putting in place a leadership plan, which we will present to the full board very soon.
We won’t miss a step and we’ll keep on doing the things we do best…increasing the angling opportunities in our state and educating and involving more people in the sport of angling.
We are in our early season fundraising mode right now and our next goal is to make our Lake Pardee, Lake Berryessa and New Melones events all dynamite fishing derbies and financial successes.
As always, no one person runs this organization, it’s the board of directors who have the final say when it comes to direction or leadership and it will always remain that way. It is the diverse opinions of our board of directors and officers that help create the directions and purpose for our organization.
Together, as a team, we will continue to make things happen.
Respectfully,
Sep Hendrickson – Executive Director
That is what was posted on our Board of Directors board yesterday. The following is what I will add to it today after reading some of the posts that followed Nelsen's comments.
First and foremost...There will not be any changes in the way we do business with the DFG and our partnership with Kokanee Power. Suggesting that the new relationship with Kokanee Power had anything to do with the decision to accept Nelsen's resignation are not at all accurate. All officers and the board of directors approved that agreement many months ago.
Secondly to insinuate that there are a few officers that lead the group...that too is unfounded. CIFF is run by a majority vote of the board of directors and we always strive to have unanimous decisions.
New ideas are always welcome. It's a shame it has come to this...Only those actively involved know the truth and both sides of the story...and those that have posted their opinions are not completely informed.
I can assure you that this organization will not fail in it's partnership with DFG and Kokanee Power when it comes to ensuring the kokanee program continues forever. The new relationship has made it easier for both organzations to do many other things to promote fishing and improved fishing opportunities in our state. It's good for both groups and good for the anglers of CA.
Sincerely,
Sep Hendrickson
