Resting Safely In God's Love
“O God my strength! I will sing your praises, for you are my place of safety.” Psalm 59:9 (TLB)
A shipmate has been at his post for hours. Because of sickness among the crew, he has been required to take an extra long session at the ship's helm. His watch has been uneventful, but now he must steer the ship safely into the harbor. His shipmates, sleeping below, are depending on him to bring them all safely home. Just as exhaustion threatens to overwhelm him, his eyes find what they have been searching for – the light from the lighthouse. Now he knows that they will all be home soon, resting in the safety of the harbor.
The circumstances of your life may be pushing you to the point of exhaustion. Depend on the light of God's unfailing love to strengthen and encourage you. It will bring you safely home.
“I have become an example to many people, but you are my strong refuge.” Psalm 71:7 (God's Word)
“You have not handed me over to my enemies but have set me in a safe place.” Psalm 31:8 (NCV)
“Wait for the Lord; Be strong, and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord.” Psalm 27:14 (NAS)
