    Aldery

Posted by Ross on April 10, 2017, 12:25 pm

Itís down as Aldery on Tuesday night and as many of you know there has been a recent controversy surrounding the BMC owned crag and unauthorised developments there. This has included removal or trees, some trundling of loose rock and also so fixed bolt anchors.

    See some details here https://www.thebmc.co.uk/aldery-cliff-update

As the local club to the crag I would like to give the BMC and specifically the Land Management Group an idea of local opinion (for or against) the various aspects of the work and therefore it would be great if as many people could get down as possible.

Went there on Saturday. Bolt anchors supported my weight OK. Similarly to the in situ slings around the trees that were there before, make your own judgement before using. A lot of sawdust / mud / bits of tree on Carmen and Deflector, quite a lot of which we swept off, but don't worry, there's plenty left on there for others. I believe there might even be some holds on these routes as well under all the debris, going to take a brush on Tuesday, and maybe a vacuum cleaner. Other lines seemed clean.

What was the quality of the anchors like?

And if you don't want to use them is there anything left to ab off?

Is it OK if I and an 8YO Bryn join you?
