I am in search of information on Nathan Caster and Rosa Hall Caster. I am not sure if this is her maiden name but do believe it to be. The 1880 Federal Census of Montgomery County, IN Franklin shows her living with her Sister and brother in law-Madison and Martha Dunford and shows her as a Widow with two children--Chester Caster (age 3)and Robert Caster (age 7). The Census shows that Rosa was born in KY as well as her two children. It also shows that Chester and Roberts father was born in KY. I cannot find any records of any of their births or the marriage of Nathan and Rosa. I cannot find any records of the death of Nathan Caster between the dates of 1877 when his youngest child was born (and nine months prior to account for pregnancy) and 1880 when the Census was taken. The story of Nathan Caster goes that he died in a freak househould accident when a knife fell on him from a shelf while he was visiting his sister. I am starting to think that this did not really happen since I cannot find any records of his death. I can find a Nathan Caster in the 1900 Federal Census in KY. This man would have been the right age to be the same Nathan Caster that I am looking for but he was with a different wife. I am wondering now if he left his wife and children and moved to KY and remarried. Does anyone know where I can find divorce records going back that far for either KY or IN or does anyone know of the Nathan Caster KY line that I am speaking in the 1900 Census so that I can research that way for a while?
