Pierce County HS will recognize all football and softball players, cross-country runners, cheerleaders, and coaches at the Fall Sports' Awards Reception on Tuesday, November 17th in the PCHS Gymnasium. A social reception will begin at 6:00 pm followed by the recognition of student-athletes and coaches. Joe Burns will be our guest speaker for the evening.
NCSA Educational Speaker, Joe Burns attended Thomas County Central High School in Georgia. While attending Central, Burns was a part of the Yellow Jackets football team earning three state championships in four years. During both his junior and senior year, Burns was named the Georgia Player of the Year, and was an USA Today Honorable Mention All-USA selection. After graduation, Burns received a full scholarship to Georgia Tech. As a result of his hard work and determination, Joe began making contributions to the team during his first year ultimately becoming an All-ACC running back in his junior year. After only three years, Joe became the fourth leading rusher in Tech’s history and second with 34 touchdowns. Following Tech, Joe went to the NFL and played for the Buffalo Bills for four consecutive years. Now Joe is educating student-athletes and families about the recruiting process as well as the importance and responsibilities of being a successful student-athlete.
The public is invited to attend.
