It established that under certain circumstances an anaconda would indeed try to attack, constrict, and swallow a human. We already knew this, of course, but if they had found a notably larger snake and changed a few other things it could have worked. For one thing, they should have had him play dead and tied a small prey animal to his head. The snake might have constricted him less aggressively then.
