I haven't noticed this problem, but then I haven't RPed much in the past year to encounter it.
If people are indeed using 'softly' for such actions as cooking an egg or reading a book, than they are using it incorrectly. The deterioration of proper grammar on the internet is a growing problem which unfortunately, like Hollywood relying on special effects instead of good story, has no end in sight.
One reason you're seeing this, may simply be laziness, especially in RPs, where these players don't care about descriptive accuracy, but are merely after the pleasurable results. If using 'softly' allows them to type faster and not get distracted with actually thinking about what they really mean, than that's what they're going to go with.
In the end, either don't let it bother you, or if it does, don't waste your time RPing with these people. Or, you can try privately pointing out the errors when you see them, though this might make them dislike you for correcting them.
