Scene: The Island: After the Storm
Responding to the ringing bell, villagers, and the scientists scramble up the path towards the sea cliff. A steady booming echoed, growing louder each time, shaking the earth. As the scientists struggled to keep up, they saw some of the villagers at the edge of the cliff, waiving excitedly.
A massive saurian head loomed overhead, open jaws blocking out the sun. The vast maw descended upon the villagers, as a massive tongue slurped grotesquely, squirming figures briefly visible before being licked up like ants. The islanders on the path stared in chock as the massive reptile raised his head, and a huge swallow echoed as the scaly throat pulsed. The jaws gaped open, empty once more.
The islanders screamed and began to run down the narrow path. The pathway quickly clogged, as only so many were able fit down the narrow ravine. The ground began shaking again as the leviathan heaved itself over the cliff edge, cold eyes scrutinizing the scurrying morsels below.
The jaws gape wide again. Saliva rains down on the fleeing villagers, who stare up at a a living nightmare. The sky has been replaced by a widening set of jaws, glistening tongue quivering, and a gaping throat undulating, expecting its next meal of living flesh. The broad tongue sweeps down again, gliding over villagers. Men throw themselves on top of their loved ones, vainly trying to ward off doom. The massive tongue slithers just past the scientists, carrying the pitiful wailing figures of the villagers. They stare in horror as the tongue retrieves its human catch, and the fanged jaws seal their doom. The mighty neck bulges and ripples, as more helpless souls begin their slide into the bloated reptile’s belly.
The scientists throw themselves under a rock overhang, and crawl in as far as they can go. Behind them the world goes dark as the screaming begins again. As wet slurping fills the air as the moist muscle blocks the cave entrance, and slithers by. One desperate figure, sliding past, tries to grab the hand on one of the scientists. Too late; he is pulled from sight as massive man-sized fangs close together. They can see the pebbly surface of the throat ripple as a massive gulp echoes in the cave.
The scientists wait in the cave for hours, until long after the booming and screams stop. When they emerge, the village has been devastated. Massive footprints have trampled homes into ruin, and small flattened human forms may be seen in some of the footprints. Other areas glisten, still drenched in salvia, where Godzilla lapped up the helpless villagers. The monster is nowhere to be seen.
Sobbing villagers gather in the ruins chanting “Gojira! Gojira!” The town elder begins to proclaim that the sea gods are angry: that it is necessary to appease the sea dragon with sacrifices again.
