Passage of the Night
Once the flood of water hit Dr. Lynn, the throat flaps quivered, then gaped wide, and she poured into the depths of the dinosaur. Shocked, but unconcerned for her safety, she sealed the suit, activated the oxygen disc, and turned on her green chemical lights. The chemical lights clearly illuminate the slick rippling surface of the throat passing by. She reached out and lovingly caressed the slick flesh as she heard the booming of the dinosaur’s heat.
Live, please live, she thought to this immense creature she loved. I’m just another human, but now you, you’re the most powerful being alive now; the only hope humanity has. You must live, she implored.
Her meditations were interrupted with a slurp as she entered the belly. She dove into the foaming acidic wash below, trusting that her suit would protect her. Kicking to the surface, she gazed about the waves of digestive juices gently lapping against the fleshy folds of her new misty world.
Unfortunately, she was not alone. Some of the large crocodile swallowed earlier, were still alive in this vast organ of digestion. While most simply thrashed, one spotted her and began swimming closer. Trusting the suit again, she dove into the digestive slurry of the dinosaur. She began to feel along the rubbery, folded surface of the stomach floor.
There it was. She had found the puckered entrance to the intestines. Without waiting to see if the crocodile was still following her, she forced herself into that slick sphincter, twisting and writhing. At last she felt the muscle slide shut behind her, sealing her safely in. Now all she had to do was to wait.
She turned off the lights, and her world became darkness, and the bubbling sounds of digestion, a booming heart, and the distant battle. She pondered on the past few years. Megasaur and his family had become crucial to the surviving humans of the facility: protecting them from raiders and doing the work that the machinery could no longer do. More important, the dinosaur’s keen intellect had generated many lifesaving ideas, and his leadership had pulled everyone through when there seemed to be no hope. The reversal of roles was even more obvious from in here. Clearly, the dinosaurs were in charge now. Megasaur, in particular had figuratively (and literally) become her whole world, and she was sure she could not live with the thought of his death.
Te battle seemed to have calmed down now, and Megasaur still lived. Smiling, she closed her eyes to sleep in the safety of the bowels of her love, protector, and now, master.
The Dawn
The whole of Old Town and all nearby villages had come to see the wonder of the sleeping leviathan. It was true he had saved them all, but what would happen when he awoke? Awestruck, people caressed the heaving sides, and listened to the rumble as the swollen belly digested their foes. As the days passed people wondered what to do. If they left there were huge crocodiles and raiders elsewhere, or desolate wastelands elsewhere. Anywhere else would be death. Yet this creature could kill them all also.
One man stepped foreword, addressing the crowd fro in front of the gently snorting snout. “This great being could have killed us all, but he did not. He was even careful not to charge through our buildings, unlike the crocodile. He has devoured the crocodiles that were devouring us, and he has driven off the monster that would have killed us all. Since he has saved all of our lives, they are his to do with as he wishes. If, in fact he does want to eat us, I for one, will be happy to serve: it is the least way I can repay him.”
As the sun came up, the sail began to turn blood red, warming the massive reptile. People stepped back, as the great reptile snorted and began to sit up. As the crowd stepped warily back, the leviathan crouched down. A massive blast of flatulence preceded a flood of liquid feces. A huge, steaming mountain formed of the remains of the crocodiles, and raiders dealt with on the way here.
The pile began to stir. An arm came out. Slowly, the naked unprotected form of a beautiful woman emerged from the steaming mountain. How was this possible? Surely it was a miracle! The crowd bowed before the sight. “oh oh” said the woman, the dinosaur rumbled in reply.
