Clash of the Titans
The slow, deliberate metronome booms of an advancing titan shake the earth. Advancing from the waters is a massive biped: a colossal spinosaur 120’ high, and 240’ long. A squirming crocodile can be seen in his 30’ jaws, the smaller beast still clinging to its human victim. The spinosaur pauses to tilt back his head to swallow the smaller reptile. As the man trapped in the crocodile’s jaws descends down the spinosaur’s throat he hopes that the great creature will use his energy to drive off the rest of these crocodiles one and for all.
Riding on the neck of Megasaur, Dr. Sheryl Lynn has made the journey in her watertight poly-suit. While the skin-tight transparent material makes her appear naked and vulnerable, at the moment she is protected better than anyone on earth. The p-suit is not only made of a nearly indestructible polymer (resistant to blows as well as impervious to chemical burns) but her oxygen disc uses a purely chemical process to provide her with three days of fresh air in the sealed suit.
She leaned forewords to shout into Megasaur’s ear hole. “See if you can drive him off.” The great creature rumbled in reply. “I know it is a risk; but not only can you save those people, but you’ll have a home for your growing family. Try, please, for me.” The dinosaur rumbled again and stepped, dripping, from the water.
The people of Old Town fled before the oncoming talons, each footstep seeming to shake the very world. The massive dinosaur picked his way carefully through the streets and courtyards, yet still people gaped in horror, staring up at his immense scaled underside as he passed overhead.
The fattened crocodile gapes wide his jaws and hisses as the intruder. The dinosaur inflates his throat pouch and emits an awesome bellow in reply, the water seeming to vibrate for miles around. The crocodile hesitates; the sound seemed to have come from a much larger creature than the dinosaur standing before him. Then, remembering that he has never lost a dominance battle, the massive crocodile gapes his jaws and charges his smaller opponent.
The onrushing crocodile crushes buildings and people as his stuffed belly grinds over them. The spinosaur steps back in time to avoid the snapping jaws, accidentally squashing a few townsfolk as well. As the crocodile continues to waddle foreword, jaws snapping with the sound of thunder, the spinosaur draws away.
The dinosaur runs in to bite at the crocodile’s broad exposed back, but the yard thick osteoderms protecting the reptile do not yield even to the force of his bite. The returning snaps of the corocdile’s jaws force the retreat of megasaur, as the crocodile again waddles after in pursuit.
And so the battle goes for hours: the dinosaur lunges in for a nip at a flank or limb, and then retreats before the enraged crocodile. The entire population of Old Town watches from a distance, to see this epic battle between leviathans to determine the future of humanity.
