Thank you for reaching out to me and wishing me a happy birthday and letting me know that everything is moving in a positive direction for you. Take one step at a time. Girlfriend, reading your card had me laughing and remembering a lot. Always remember that black women are some of the most self-sufficient, independent, and powerful people on this earth. Thank you, sis for sharing that. Keep praying “sis”.
Regarding the DNC in Philly, It was an experience, to say the least. Ask me if I will do it again, yes I would but will be praying that God allow me to go next time as a super delegate. I think it’s time. It was a process. First I had to re-register as a democrat at the county recorder office. Then, I had to gather up a posse and have them all come out and vote for me to become a delegate. And then I had to give a one minute speech. The speech part I didn’t mind it but the gathering up my posse (friends and family, community) was a bit much. Here’s why: My community consists of 55 percent Asian (and they stick together like glue, although some did come out to vote for me), 35 percent Caucasian, 10 percent black (you only see them on Sunday after church or at Popeye’s chicken), and 5 percent other, (Indians, who are Engineers for Qualcomm, only here on a work visa). They look black, but “Ain’t”, and will be the first to let you know otherwise. But…… For those who came out to support, It was pretty cool.
There was one problem I had though when being asked to serve as a delegate. I could not understand why the DNC didn’t reach out to me on behalf of Bernie. I ponder on that for a long time. And……before participating, I could not understand how is that the DNC reached out to me the way they did, because I had not been a registered democrat in a little over 16 years. Well now we all know, the reason for it. Don’t think I did not call the DNC to ask questions. Right is Right! Now we know. Cold Blooded, Huh! You know there were some people who had paid 25,000 to 30,000 to be a delegate at this DNC convention. The question remains....Is that amount worth it, well, it depends on who you ask.
I was on the street on New York with my son, and one of his clients had stopped to talk. In introducing me, my son had mentioned that I was heading out the next day to attend the convention, and dude was more excited than I was. In our conversation he had told me that he could not be a delegate for her because he was an employee at Clinton foundation (conflict of interest), and had asked if I would pretty much like to work with her foundation. My thoughts immediately, were NO, not interested. And my second thought was not leaving San Diego, just yet. Dude must have called me 10 times to figure out my thoughts. My son had told me that he had mentioned that his position in the Clinton foundation had become too much for him and he had to take another position. With hearing that, I Told “Dude” thanks but no thanks. Sounds enchanting but I’m definitely passing on “THAT” opportunity. I have plans…..and that’s not it……Lol. She has my vote…..for now.
In ending, let me say that I was listening to NPR while in New York, and the host had asked people to call in and state who they were voting for and why. It varied. However, one person called in and said that he was voting for the lesser of two evils, which was Hillary. Shortly after that caller hung up, another person called in and said….among other concerns, that “The lesser of two evil, is still evil”. Now that Blew me away……..Have to pray on that one!
Ok, I think I better stop at this point. Because my thoughts will run off this page. lol.
Be Well Phoebe Sis!
