Since watching the historical novels of Diana Gabaldon (who was a scientist prior to becoming a writer--) I've become fascinated by Scotland.
I am a bit over 1/3 Scot, and that impressed the need to know on my imagination. So I signed on with Duolingo to learn Scot's Gaelic. I've been at it for over three years, and I wouldn't starve if I were stranded on Scotland.
Along with tracing my own ancestry, I began researching the land, the isles and the mountains and beauty of Scotland. I have studied the history, the food, the culture and if I was ever to win a lottery (wait, you have to buy a ticket, right?) I would have a flight to Scotland and people enough to cart my old fanny all over Scotland! Especially to the castles connected to my ancestors!
