I am writing to you for advice or help. My 6th Great Grandfather was Capt Israel Davis b1728 in Rowley Mass. According to the only bit of information - his widows Rev War Pension application- he died in 1788 in either Eastport, or Castine while on business. After the Rev War he was an Assistant Sheriff in Lincoln Co. Prior to the Rev War he was a merchant and was the largest tax payer in Boothbay, as well as a Deacon in Rev John Murray's church. At the beginning of the Revolution he was tasked with the defense of the seacoast.
I have done extensive online research but so far have not been able to find ANYTHING about his death. Might you have any ideas?
