Posted by Graham Carter I bought my compressor in 1974 at a leather-working shop in lower George St Sydney for about $100 which was a week's pay in those days. It is an oil-less Thomas and I have used it constantly for 31 years and apart from getting a bit hot if I spray for more than 30 mins constantly, it has not missed a beat. I used a Paasche F2 for the first 26 years and now run an H2. I think. like most things, you pays your money and get what you pay for. I thought my original purchase was over the top but it has proved worth it in the long run. Graham Carter

: Hi, I'm wanting to buy an air compressor (I
: live in Sydney) I bought one from Hobbyco, a
: link for that model is
: http://www.hobbyco.com.au/product/show_item.php?plu=PRCP103
: but after a few months it broke down and I
: returned it (the autoswitch started loosing
: air constantly and there was no means of
: fixing it) so I would like to know if
: there's any other option. I'm willing to pay
: a few dollars, though I'd like to know
: actual differences with a cheaper commercial
: one, like the ones available at Bunnings,
: Big W, etc. Any comments apreciated. If you
: email me, please remove 'nospam' before
