: Canopies usually have a metal frame which is

John, I have recently got into the habit of using strips of decals for the frames on canopies. The trick is to spray or brush a strip of the camouflage colour onto some clear decal film and then cut it into the appropriate widths and apply to the model - use of decal setting and softening fluids will help them settle nicely. Another trick is to undercoat the decal film with the interior colour of the cockpit such as interior grey-green for the RAF or black or even natural metal. For natural metal airframes try cutting strips of self adhesive chrome tape or bare-metal foil. Use a sharp blade or look for the Olfa Stencil Cutter which has two sharp blades about 1.5mm apart and are great for strips for 1/48 or 1/32 canopies. Graham Carter
