RAF WWII Bomber Command Colours

Hi there, Hope someone can help. Currently buidling (restoring) Airfix Halifax BIII, some confusion about what colour the upper surface 'brown' is. One reference quotes Dark Earth, but looking at some web site models this seems too dark. So folks any ideas? and what Humbrol or other enamel paint colour would be deemed appropiate??? Thank you for any help.
