Leviathan painting competition

Dear Painters,
While there is no separate plastic kit categories, plastic kits may still be entered in the category that is appropriate.
Please read the categories carefully. As per previous years Section A, B and C cannot be entered by painters that have gained 1st, 2nd or 3rd in any other painting competition. This is to encourage new winners each year and ensure the painting competition is not dominated by previous winners. We have separate sections for Veterans and Elite painters.
The diorama and display piece categories are open to all painters.
Finally once again we have a School Diorama competition. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place is a free educational tour of the Australian War Memorial and free entry to Cockington Green Gardens.

To allow for new prize winners each year, previous place getters (1st, 2nd or 3rd) place in any miniature/ modelling painting competition cannot enter the following Sections.
Section A: 25mm - 30mm Miniature ($3 per entry)
Category i
Best 25mm - 30mm Single figure “On foot” (Fantasy, Sci-Fi, or Historical)
(eg. A single miniature standing, running kneeling etc)
Category ii
Best 25mm - 30mm Single Cavalry figure (Fantasy, Sci-Fi, or Historical)
(eg Cavalry figure including mounted on a "bike" miniature or other creature similar in size to a Horse)
Section B: Model/ Miniature ($3 per entry)
Category i.
Best Large Creature (any scale)
(Fantasy, Sci Fi, Historical e.g. Monster, giant Alien, Historical dinosaur, etc)
Category ii.
Best Vehicle/ Machine (Any scale)
(Fantasy, Sci Fi, Historical e.g. All Vehicles/ Machinery, e.g. tanks, planes, ships, spaceships, rockets, artillery, cars, trucks, siege equipment and crew etc)
Section C: Units ($3 per entry)
Category i.
Best 10mm-20mm Unit
(Fantasy, Sci-Fi or Historical)
(Must include command figures, unit size 12 to 40 figures
Category ii.
Best 25mm - 30mm Unit
(Fantasy, Sci-Fi or Historical)
(Must include command figures, unit size minimum 5 miniatures)

To ensure competition in the Veteran class, painters that have won a placing consistently over a number of years are to compete in the Elite Section.
Veteran Class is for previous place getters in Section A to C or those painters that have won a place in other painting competitions. Painters that have never won a place in any competition may still enter this section if they are brave. (Upsets are known to happen)
Section D: Veterans Class ($4 per entry)
Category i
Best 25mm - 30mm Single figure
(Foot or Mounted (Cavalry size) - Fantasy, Sci-Fi or Historical)
Category ii
Best Model/ Miniature (any scale)
(Large Monsters/Aliens, Machinery/Vehicles - Fantasy, Sci-Fi or Historical)
Category iii
Best Unit (any scale)
(Fantasy/ Sci-Fi or Historical. Must include command figures, unit size 6 to 40 figures)

This is for Painters that have consistently dominated Veterans’ class or other painting competitions. Any Painters may still enter this section if they are extremely brave.
(Upsets are always possible)
Section E: Elite Class ($4 per entry)
Category i.
Best Single Miniature.
(Fantasy/Sci-Fi, or Historical. Any miniature(s) 54mm or larger in height, NOT necessarily in scale,
e.g. A large Monster 54mm or higher in height not including the base.)

Best Individual Diorama ($4 per entry)
(Any scale miniature allowed. Entries must portray a scene. Base minimum 120mm * 80mm)

54mm, 90mm, 120mm or greater Scale Miniatures

Students from 1st grade to year 7 only;

Category iii “Lest We Forget” ANZAC Diorama ($5 per entry)
(Base minimum 120mm * 80mm, maximum 600mm * 420mm) Students making a diorama for the first time should aim for smaller diorama. The diorama may be made and painted by one student or up to four students working as a team.
