WW1 Seat Belt Harness

Hi all.
I'm having a problem deciding on how the seat belt/harness should look in ww1 aircraft. Some models appear to have "full harness" (ie shoulder and lap), while others show as a lap belt only.
Does it vary from aircraft to aircraft? How does a lap belt fit over the side of the seat, given that the seat sides were relatively high in those days.
Any info would be appreciated.
