: Graham,
:
: I saw the pictures of your Bristol Type 188
: on the members pictures. Can you tell me a
: little about it? Who was the kit
: manufacturer? Did you have to do any scratch
: build, especially round the cockpit or
: undercarriage.
:
: I have the opportunity to buy a vacform 188,
: by Dragon, and I'm just wondering if there
: are other kits out there, or, if your's was
: a Dragon, how much came with the kit and how
: much was left up to you.
:
: Thanks

: I actually replied to this messge afew days ago but it appears not to have been logged. The kit is an old Maintrack Models vacform that sat half- built in a box until last year when I resurrected it and completed it. THe details were gleaned from a copy of abook on British Experimental Aircraft written by the author of a series of articles in Aeroplane Monthly during the 1980's and early 90's plus a copy of the RAF Review from 1962. I had to scratch build the engine pods using tube as the vacform ones were badly out of shape. the plane is finished in Humbrol polished steel but I'm not that happy with the result - it really needs a metal foil or Metalliser finish . decals in the kit were unusable and had to be replaced from the spares box. You could try to contact Maintrack Hobbies in Queens Road Hastings in the UK if they still trade or try Hannants in Lowescroft in the UK. Regards Graham Carter
