But in 2007, the King changed the succession law and now, after Crown Prince Sultan's accession (or death as Crown Prince), the next heir was to be chosen by the family council.
So it would seem that this nomination is a purely administrative move, especially as Crown Prince Sultan, the deputy PM, is said to be seriously ill.
However, such decisions are rarely "purely administrative" in the Saudi Royal Family due to the rivality between the branches etc. So it would be nice indeed if the Royal Court could comment on Prince Talal's remark and precise the situation.
