I was given a 2 year old Bey Shah son in 1984. He was a colt culled from the herd of the horses of the then owner of Bey Shah. this colst was the spitting image of Bey Shah - bay, with the crooked strip down hos nose. He had 3 white socks. The reason he was culled and given away was because he had the check ligament lameness, sort of club footed lameness common with the Bey Shah line. I had the leg operated on, having the check ligament cut. The operation was a complete success.
At 13 years old, I had to part with EL Dorado due to some horrible life circumstances. Gone 2 days from my care, he foundered. 3 Vets could not find any physical reason for the severe and sudden founder. 40 days later, I put "Caleb" down. An autopsy showed that there never could have any hope of recovery or soundness for him. In the end, it was determined that "Caleb" El Dorodo's daily name, foundered due to a broken heart. Caleb and I were knit from the heart. He saved my life twice. We shared team penning and dressage moves and hours just sitting together. He was the most beautiful horse ever seen on the trails in Sonoma county, California. He death happenend 9 years ago. this is the first time I have written about it. The lump is still in my throat.
I had a dream one year after Caleb died. It was that an angel took me up to heaven. A very sound Caleb galloped past me. I was hurt that he did not stop at my side. The angel informed me that I was not dead yet. That I was allowed a glimpse of his now happiness, but he could not yet see me, since I was not yet a citizen of heaven.
