I was lucky enough to see Fire Chief at his home (Rock Isle Arabians) in Waconia, Minnesota, a few years before the tragic fire. If you ever had the chance to meet Ward Holasek, his owner, I don't think you'd ever say anything derogatory about him. He was and is totally devoted to his horses. I never met anyone who worked harder. The loss of Fire Chief was absolutley devastating to him and his family. Fire Chief was the root and foundation to their success. It was an honor to see Fire Chief. He was a small, very typey horse with a family pet disposition. Mr. Holasek also showed off his then 2 year old colt Alada Baskin. It was amazing to see a legendary National Champion as a mere colt.
