Calming a nervous new horse

I just bought a horse, a 10 year old Arab mare. She's definately buddy-sour (lived in pasture with 7 others, not much human contact other than feeding) and is a handful right now. She's very nervous around everyone and the other horses right now. Anyone know any tips to working with a very anxious horse and/or how long it may take before she settles down? If it's important, she is not a dominant mare. Thanks!
