Acutally, one of the first things the bank asks you if you want to set up a business account is if you have a business license and part of that is taking care of the fictitous name registration. If you set it up as a personal account then you would not need this. I am not saying you couldn't run a business without a business account or without registering the name, just passing along information that I learned while researching what I needed to do to set up my business. You are right that everyone is different and different areas, counties, and states may have different prerequisites for running a business.
