I have Apps, Arabs, & AraApps. I have found that most people who buy into the stereotype of Apps & Arabs being: stubborn, crazy, stupid, hard to work with, etc, etc... are generally either ignorant (they don't know any better) or tend to bully rather than train with respect, & find that most Apps & Arabs don't tolerate being bullied so the horse is blamed rather than the human who is responsible.
: I dont know why alot of people think appys
: have bad tempers. I have shown appys since i
: was little and not one of them have been
: mean. Every horse has there own personality
: and problems. I wish people wouldnt single
: out appys

: I am an Appy person and have not found there
: to be an unpredictability of temperament
: within the breed. There are individuals just
: like any other breed that can be that way,
: but they are not that way as a whole. The
: books are not currently closed and the ApHC
: will allow outcrossing to TB, AQHA, and Arab
: currently. They were not that closely bred
: even in the beginning as the calvary remount
: program was used to help bring them back.

: I am researching this for another guild I am
: in (not an Appy guild). The reputation of
: the Appy for having an unpredictable
: temperament is being discussed, and I would
: be interested to know if the stud book is
: closed and if so, when it was closed. It is
: my argument that any horse closely bred (as
: the Appy had to have been to bring it back
: from near eradiation) will have some
: problems. I also personally have observed
: more temperament problems in the Arab than
: the Appy. LOL
