Posted by Tracy Meisenbach Currently, with my husband and daughter, I have a breeding farm in Central Virginia where we stand two appaloosa stallions and raise spotted babies. I also train and give riding lessons, including therapeutic riding. In the past few years I have taken a very active role in the Appaloosa Horse Club. I am currently on the Marketing Committee and the Regional Club Advisory Committee. I have authored or co-authored and put a great deal of time into, such new programs as the Performance Permit Proposal, which starts in 2007, as well as the Color Incentive Fund program that is the companion piece to the Permit. I’m currently working on a Ranch Horse/Field Hunter show system to bring showing back to a grass roots level. I am also the author of the “ Future Use Frozen Semen/Embryo Ownership” program that would allow stallion and mare owners to retain ownership of frozen semen and embryos after the sale of the mare or stallion. This ownership rule will benefit mare and stallion owners who wish to sell and export horses, yet retain reproductive rights. I have worked on several extensive donation programs for the ApHC, including the donations of the “Spotted Pride” books which were given to every 1st place youth and non-pro exhibitor at the 2005 Nationals and the Appaloosa Breyer models which were given away at the 2006 ApHC Breyerfest Booth. I have attended several equine expos using my horses as the Appaloosa representative for the breed displays and explaining to the public what a wonderful breed the Appaloosa can be. In 2005 I was awarded the ApHC President's Buckle for services to the Appaloosa Horse Club and its members. I have attended the majority of Board of Director meetings for the past five years and have a good working knowledge of parliamentary procedure and the legalities of running a non-profit organization. I have served on the Board of the Virginia Appaloosa Horse Club as Vice President for two years. Currently I am a partner in the “Colors of the Fall Futurity” show series, which promotes color breeds and the owner/breeder exhibitor. We will be putting on four of these shows in different regions of the United States in 2007 and expand to more shows in 2008 I’m dedicated to preserving and promoting the Appaloosa. Our unique breed requires that we commit to it a 100%. This means that the fads and fashions, politics and principles of other breeds should not be our first concern. We need to look at what the Appaloosa needs to survive, to grow and to once again claim its place as a top American breed. The Appaloosa Horse Club as a whole is made up of many diverse programs. Each of these interest groups is an integral part of our breed and their relationships closely intertwined. The breed cannot survive without their support. Our future as a respected registry demands that the actions taken by the elected officials benefit the breed, not the individual. Our breed demands our loyalty, our unending promotion and our commitment to preserving what the founding fathers started. At the same time we must look to the future and update our rules and standards so that the Appaloosa can survive as a top breed in the coming years. We must clean up all the areas where discontent and self-interest fester, and promote an ethical membership and a balanced breed. If elected I intend to continue promoting, preserving and ensuring the best interests of the Appaloosa, the ApHC and the membership. Hello fellow Appaloosa enthusiast,
I’m Tracy Meisenbach and I’m running for the Board of Director seat in Territory V, Zone C. I’ve had horses all of my life, sharing my family’s strong equine background. I’ve dealt with many breeds, everything from thoroughbreds and polo ponies, Arabians and miniatures, but my favorites have always been my Appaloosas. I’ve tried to experience a broad spectrum of equine disciplines and I’ve competed in everything from roping and dressage to polo and pole bending. I have shown in both breed and open shows and understand the differences between the two. I worked for several years as a veterinary technician while living in Texas and Arizona.
